QOD 1
Billy-Bob wakes up early in the morning to get to work on his farm, so early that the rooster hasn't even crowed, which means it's still very dark. When he goes to get on a pair of his work gloves, he looks into the drawer only to see it's too dark to tell the difference between the 2 kinds he has: 6 pairs of black work gloves and 6 pairs of tan work gloves. Billy-Bob is a very neat farmer, and likes his gloves to match. How many gloves must he pull out of the drawer before it's sure he'll have a matching set?

Aussie got it right, 13.
He'd have to pull out 13 gloves, because at 12, he could have pulled out 6 black left handed gloves and 6 tan left handed gloves, for example. By 13, there would definitely be 1 pair of either black or tan gloves, left and right. Points are on their way Aussie! |
