Vertical Limit--True story
As i sit at the top of the hill with my brother i look down in worry. Then i hear the kids behind us cheering him on. Yelling at the top of their lungs "you can do it dont worry." I look over at him even more worried telling him "I know you want to prove yourself to us, but dont do it, we dont know whats gonna happen." He just calmly looks at me and starts down the hill. When he comes to the first speed bump, he passes it. Then at the second speed bump his bike started shaking more. Then came the third speed bump. I didnt know what happened all i saw was my brother laying on the ground knocked out and bleeding. Were the blood was coming from i had no idea. So i got on my bike and rode as fast as possible to get my mom telling her so shakey "Michael did a flip on his bike and now hes bleeding." She ran out there with me her voice so shaky and filled with sadness, saying to the kids"i hope your happy you got my 6 year old son in a crappy codition now." From there we went straight to the hospital. I sat in the back holding my brothers head praying hes gonna be alright.
As soon as we get to the hospital the first thing we hear is"surgery." That had us both worried seeing how many times our family has been threw surgery. We look at my brother who is laying down on the chairs in the lobby. Then my mom asks "what will it take?" The doctor responded "staples and stitches." My mom started crying "oh god, oh god." I then turned to her and she held me so close i didnt want to be let go. As reasurring as possible i told her "its gonna be ok."--I even had a little sadness in my voice. Seven hours, 12 staples, and 7 stitches later we took my brother home all three of us with tears in our eyes. When we got home all three of us cried together. At the moment we were at my moms boyfriends house--now ex. She told us to pack everything thats ours. We did as we were told. I helped my brother pack everything since his condition was so bad. By Morning we were gone. Today my brother is fine he only has a small scar in the back of his head reminding us how lucky we are thats all he got from the accident. And my whole family is glad that thats all he needed too. |
