a brief history/METALLICA 1981-1996

i being bias, will tell a brief history of metallica,
est. 1981, by lars ulrich and james hetfield, in 1982 cliff burton joined the band, in 1983 when they moved to San Fran., the band decided to ax guitarist dave mustaine(megadeth), and replace him w/ exodus guitarist kirk hammett, this was the complete formation of the band.
in that same year they met record owner john zazula(megaforce records), and signed a contract for there first album, kill'em all,(originally named metal up your ass),in 1984 they recorded there 2nd album, ride the lightning,in 1985 they recorded there 3rd album, master of puppets.
then a tragic day in metal history when cliff burton is killed in a tour bus accident on sept. 27th, 1986. they have auditions for a new bassist and jason newstead of flotsam and jetsam fills in as the new bassist for metallica.
in 1987, the release an album garage days re-visited,then a few monthe later release a tribute to cliff burton called cliff em' all, i fine tribute video which goes both gold & platinum and becomes the top selling video of that particular year.
in latter 1988 they release there "and justice for all" album and then complete there first video from the album "one" with excerpts from "johnny get ur gun" worked into the video, it was a masterful first video for the monsters of rock, and in 1989 they play "one" at the grammies and are nominated for best hard rock/metal group but lose to jethro tull, my personal opinion , what a joke, losing to jethro tull in a metal group catagory, judges ,get a life.in 1990 they record queens "stone cold crazy" on a compilation album and then start recording there 5 th album with talented producer bob rock and in 1991 the "black album " is released, the black album a highly anticipated album sell 600,000 copies in the first week and promote the album by touring 300 shows in 37 countries. also in 1991 they win there first grammy w/ the rendition of queens song "stone cold crazy".
in 1995, they start recording there 6th album load witch is a double album and release load in 1996, also in 1996 they appear on channel bbc2 for the tv show called "later w/ jools holland",an record 3 songs- "wasting my hate","mama said" and "king nothing" which they play live.in that same year they surprised mtv europe by playing "last caress" and "so what" instead of "king nothing" at the video awards show, then the single mama said is released wordwide.

I love metallica. I notice you say nothing about their career after Load. What about Reload and then the whole orchestra thing?

i always loved metallica from the time i was 11 years of age im now 31....i however never knew their history in detail as you have given...so for that i thank you...i do recall them sayin that they would never go commercial and i found once they did they lost their originality they once captured...i mean and justice was not so bad but there after hmmmm i never got into it...i went to their concert in the early 90's juz before they had named fuel and they were tossin it up as a name for that song...they were still good even though i didnt recognize james cause his hair had been all but burnt off...but i really feel they lost their touch once they went commercial..still got the love though
