Unmoving (2)
Leaves falling from trees
In the middle of spring And they still hold green so vibrant Snow falls in the heat of the afternoon Sticking to where it lands Slowly all colors fade to the background Rushing past me In front of me all thast is left are barren trees The new fallen snow And her Facing the wind so strong, unmoved And there she is again But not the same She is a small girl Crouching at the trunk of the old tree Beneath the naked branches Shaking and frightened Wanting to find warmth Searching for color But the older her is beconing Calling the younger me Saying GET UP!, FACE THE WIND AND COLD! DON'T BE SO WEAK, DON'T BE SO VULNERABLE DON'T CRY, SHOW NO FEAR, NO EMOTION NO TEARS, no matter how lonely But the young her stares in silence Shivering and searching Tears steadily flowing And she collapses in the snow Where she falls the snow melts And everthing beneath the snow where she falls is dead The older her crys out WHY DID YOU LET THIS HAPPEN!?!? I warned you And tears start to flow down her face She moves from her stronghold To try and revive the young her but fails Slowly she becomes weak and frail Even younger looking And I move from my hiding spot taking the place of the girl Unmoving and strong I promise myself that when she gives in And succumbs to her grief She will lay there and die And I will not move Strong and unafraid UNMOVING |
