PAIN THAT CONSUMES

Miles of dark, cold, lonely life lay ahead of me,
Beginning to wonder if anything is worth my time.
I’m starting to think that this is all for nothing,
Everything I pour my heart and soul into just seem fade away.

The love that was once in your eyes,
Is now gone replaced with vacancy that chills me.
Now I’m facing life all alone it seems,
At least you gave me truth instead of lies.

For the first time in my life my eyes are open,
To the fact that happiness will never be mine.
Even when I don’t try, if happiness finds its way to me,
In an instant it feels like it’s gone away and I’m alone again.

Realizing that what I thought was meant to be,
Was never meant to be at all.
Like my happiness, is not meant to exist,
If it is then why does it keep leaving me miserable in the end.

I just wanna fly away from the pain that consumes my thoughts.
For the first time in my life my eyes are open,
With tears brimming to the edges at the thought of the life that lies ahead.

I open up my eyes and I feel the pain take over,
Sometimes the decision is made for you that happiness is not yours.
Giving up on trying to ever find true happiness is the last option,
Standing here alone, I begin to face the pain of being alone for eternity.
