APOLOGIES ARE NEVER TOO LATE
Some where along the way we fell apart,
Our lives took different directions away from each other.
Still at night, I find myself thinking of what could have been,
In my mind I wonder how things are going for you.
If you were to stand before me and apologize,
There are so many things I’d want to say to you.
But I know that the only thing I would say,
Would be that its never too late for an apology.
All the hurt you have caused me wouldn’t matter,
Just having the nerve to ask forgiveness would ease the pain.
It wouldn’t all just go away with an apology,
What I’m saying to you is that it would show you cared.
After all the cut downs you handed out,
I would still forgive you for it all.
Harboring all this anger and resent towards you,
It’s taking a major toll on my mental state of mind.
I don’t want to keep holding all these feelings towards you in,
But I’m telling you here and now, I won’t be the first to apologize.
You have to make the first step to me,
I cannot bring myself to make the first step to you.
Because you are the one who needs to apologize,
I have nothing to apologize to you for until you ask first.

It makes me feel so small on the inside.
