There is a way, but if I told you Microsoft says I have to KILL YOU!! Actually, you might try going in with a system restore function, then into safe mode if it will let you. Then create a new user, and give that user a new PW. OH, and next time write down some where, that you will not lose or forget it.

If that does not work, either MS, or a full reformat and reinstall of everything!! Hope you got backups of data, or if you get in safe mode, make the backups then.

I am not sure if a reinstall over the original will help you much, as PW would still be set, Some computers have a system disk, not the original software that you could try to go back to when you first bought the system.

I know this is likely redundant, but for future reference, Robby is right about safe mode, just boot in safe mode, after all safe mode is basicly a hidden Admin account with non essential processes dissabled, use it to change your user account password. then re boot, should be sorted.

Actually, that is the one that MS said I have to kill if I told!! Actually I had forgotten the exact proceedure, but as I do not want kids to know how to get past parental settings, should we really broadcast this for all to find!!

The first person who told that to me, was about 11 years old, when I messed up one of my early computers. It was similar but not exactly the same, because it was using W95 I think.

go to a library, friend´s house, any pc, I would personally do that instead of a full system restore.
