help needed with cd drive

On this desktop, the cd rom works if you are playin a music cd, and downloading a program from disc, but as soon as u try to burn music or files, it says a writeable cd needs to b inserted, even tho it has been. Any answers as to why nothing can b saved to disc?

well it could either be that you are using the wrong sort of disc..some use dvdrw but then some use cdrw and if you trying to use sonic to do it give up now hehe some people find it easier to use dvdrw but then again i always like it the easy way and just burn it straight to cdrw using the built in drive that came in the comp....if you using nero angel make sure you using the updated version..

then it only seems that it can be the burning software you are using...what exactly are you trying to burn with...not unregistered nero or sonic...you better off angel downloading a burner if you have not purchased 1 but watch it if you do as you need to make sure they come with the codes

huh u must be openin a programme to burn it with...if burning with realplayer or media player then they will NOT work or if does will be very crappy quality maybe even sound no pic...if using those players to burn then you better off writing onto a cdrw disc

Ok, first thing go to Control panel, the too, Sounds and Audio, under hardware, find the drive your using to write and highlight that, then select properties at the bottom of the page. When that opens up go to driver tab. try using the update function on the drivers.

If it does not update, or says drivers are ok, then open Media player, and make sure you have installed the latest version. I think that is version 11. Then select some music files that are on the computer, and use the burn tab to try and put them on CD.

If this does not work, talk to ICE!!!

it is media player 11 but im sure angels comp is a little older and she still running the older version...my suggestion is to try burn it with a different software if still running old media software...nero is a good burner and is also available for download with the key code.
