the press is saying the price of PCs is set to come down in the next couple of months, cos vista is being released next year,so pc stores are trying to get rid of the PCs they have now to make way for the new vista ready ones,so if you want a pc at a bargain price it may be an idea to hold on a little and see what happens

Now the decision as to what type of processor to buy, is one thing only. The Amount of RAM "random access Memory", HD "hard drive" size, graphic's ability, the software that comes preinstalled, and the ability to write CD's & DVD's all are part of the picture. If you want to talk to DELL about it, their people may be able to guide you for a decent price. Or a local rep for Computer big box stores, Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City may be able to give you guidance. Much of this depends on what you want to do with the computer after you buy it. I know this confuses more than helps, but what I need is totally different than what you may need, so I hate to give advice on a purchase like that.

yes, dell are one of the best value pc suppliers, even in the UK.

their new website is rediculously inaccessible but they sell computers for a bargain

P4 chips are OK, do not even consider going with the dual core etc, if your a student.

AMD chips are also good. Gateway & Dell I think does both now. Not sure about in UK.

You supprised me with saying Toy R US has them over there, but I never go in that store here, My youngest child is 33 years old.

Good luck, on what ever you decide.
