The wood
I walk through the dark woodland in the deep of night..
I am alone, lost and without a trace of hope left to me..
Clouds cover the moon and the stars blocking all light.,
As I blunder my stumbling way through the black,
Snow covers the forest floor in a blanket of white.
I know that my only companion is my own despair..
The cold wind blows and I hold my wrap to me tight.
The chill goes in deeper than the bone, to my very soul.
Here is a world fit for the lost, the lost to human sight.
Now comes the time for all things to be of the past,
For time to cease and thought and dreams of might.
I lay me down in the hollow of a giant fallen oak
And as the snow continues to fall all things are made right.
I sleep.
