Good call Grammy.
I had a dachsund when I was in elementary school who also found a chicken bone one day, and as I came up to him to tell him to drop it, he lunged at me, showing teeth. I think (although he'd NEVER tried to bite me before.. or after) that if I'd continued to try to get him away from that chicken, he would have bit me.
I kept my dog also. He's a dog and it was food that he'd found.. or as I'm sure he saw it.. "hunted". He did bite another person after that though... a girl who was putting her face in his face and telling him he was an ugly dog. Kept him after that too. As I saw it, she provoked him. He passed away not long after that, so I can't say if he would have become a biter... but I DO know that little dogs are FAR more prone to biteing... even the hand that feeds and loves them.
Look into some obedience books or training. One year old is still young enough to fix that behavior.
