laptops causing fires cause there too hot

This was taken from the local news in my area about the dangers of laptop computers, it seems that the batteries from laptops stay hot for along time after use.?Laptop makers are squeezing more and more components into increasingly smaller spaces, generating heat levels that can raise the likelihood of battery failure. In 2006, exploding batteries were a issue for manufacturing errors. They have been the culprit for many fires, here are some guidelines to keep ur laptop safe.
1.Take it off ur lap -when u turn ur laptop over theres 4 rubber feet which are intended to keep the computer off a hard surface and let air circulate underneath it. Lying it on a pillow or a sofa arm restricts the flow of circulation, even with it off it still is hot and can become a fire hazard.(note: laptops can have cooling vents on the side, make surwe to leave room to let air flow through)
2.Travel safety- Invest in a laptop bag that fits ur laptop. Bags which are too big can lead to physical damage to ur computer, to small a bag doesn't allow adequate ventilation to disperse heat. Make sure to turn ur laptop completely off. some computers can spontaneously revive or turn themselves on from there hibernate or suspend modes. Thats when they can really bake.
3. Protect ur battery- try to avoid damaging you battery, don't expose to high heat levels like leaving in ur car on a hot day. don't put it in a situation where u can crush or damage battery.Don't expose battery contacts to metal.(note: even if you drop ur battery and it hits the right way it can explode)
4.Only use batteries and chargers recommended by the manufacturer- Generic or OEM batteries may lack full compatibility with your system, causing a hazard to u and ur computer
(note:this was taken from the Buffalo Evening News Some was rewritten most is from a story in link section)
