Yes, some insurance companies don't cover total cost. Many have a deductable you have to pay in first, then there's co-pay where they pay part, etc. A few days in the hospital can go into tens of thousands depending on what you had done and the care you needed.
You get billed by many doctors and for the different services besides just the hospital bill.
Sure makes Canada look good.
