some people are like ships that sail the oceans with you
far away and distant although you know they're there
some folks are those ships that pass in the night
a brief wave, a hello, or smile, then they go their way
some are tugs boats, not that far from solid ground
they help, until needed elsewhere, then move on
there are ships in port you pass almost daily
you may not be intimate but theres comfort in familiarity
then there are those you dock beside, like home in the harbor
aware of the storms and calm seas each other has traveled
knowing you'll always find each other eventually
appreciate all the ships that sail through your life
however brief or lasting the contact
for the ocean is vast and our journey is not over
